The defending national champion Edmonton Hawks will look to become only the second team in Canadian major league sports to win a third consecutive championship. With virtually everyone back from last year's championship, there are really no major concerns for the Hawks this season. Quarterback Curtis Brewster is still very much in his prime, while wide receiver
Bruce Cade is coming off a very strong rookie season. Also in the Hawks' favor is the weakness of their division. The Vancouver Braves are entering a rebuilding year while the expansion Northwest Polar Bears are not expected to make much noise in their first season. the Saskatoon Reapers will provide the main competition for Edmonton, but they have some issues to sort out on offense if they are going to be a real threat.
