Winnipeg has gotten used to championship near-misses by now. The Canaries nearly always win the Central Baseball league only to collapse in the post-season, while hockey's Wilderness, a year after losing in the 2011 finals, came just a win away from earning a second chance last season. The football Wasps have been no different, reaching the Maple Leaf Bowl last season only to lose a heartbreaker to the Edmonton Hawks. One month later, management ensured that would not happen this season when they signed former league MVP Randell White to give Ben Goodrich another much-needed receiver. Equipped with the same conference championship team as last year along with the best wide receiver in the game, the Wasps enter 2012 as huge favorites.
